Contact Lens Care

Specialist contact lenses services are also available in practice. Your care is completed by your normal clinical team. Soft, Hard (RGP) or specialist lenses such as OrthoK and Myopia Control are available along side more standard contact lens designs.

Essential Scans for AMD and Family History of Glaucoma

Essential digital tools that makes a difference to your ocular health.


Regular and routine OCT scanning can be a more detailed method of detecting early signs of Macula Degeneration and the early stages of Glaucoma. In some ways because this technology (Ocular Coherance Tomography) scans at a cellular level small changes as low as 1 micron can be detected.


An example where this exceeds "standard tests" for glaucoma is in Optical Nerve head analysis, where we scan the Rentinal Nerve Fibre Layer (RNFL). The RNFL can be depleted by up to 50% before the signs of damage can be highlighted in the "standard test" so arguably regular scanning will help us get you to the right secondary care provider as early as is possible.

Since its initial design some 15-20 years ago we invested in Optomap by Optos. Optomap is a revolutionary digital scan, which unlike a photograph, allows a view of approximately 80% of the retina in a simple scan.

The scan takes a few seconds. The images are digitally stored for easy comparison year on year, making sure that we can see subtle changes in retinal condition(s).

Great for all age groups and all prescription ranges. 

Because this scan can be done so quickly it is also SAFE as your clinician takes less time in close proximity to you. Making life safer and giving you the reassurance that your retinal health remains good.
